Terms of Service

Version 1.1.0 · Effective 2026-08-12 · Operated by Junnosuke Kono

Plain-language notice. This document was drafted with AI assistance for a small independent project. It is written to be clear and honest, but it is not professionally reviewed legal advice and it may not satisfy every requirement in every country. It should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before Tokyo Mission Guide operates commercially or at scale.

1. Acceptable use

Use Tokyo Mission Guide lawfully and respectfully. You agree not to misuse the service, including by attempting to break authentication, access other people's private data, scrape or overload the service, upload malware, automate abuse, or impersonate anyone.

2. User accounts

You need an account to post, comment, and track progress. Provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and do not share your account. You are responsible for activity on your account. One person, one account.

An age requirement may apply depending on where you live; the operator configures the minimum account age and any parental-consent step for the countries the service operates in. Do not create an account if you do not meet the requirement shown at signup or the minimum age applicable under your local law.

3. Tokyo Moments

Tokyo Moments is a public community feed. Anything you publish there — photos, captions, tags, comments, recommendations, and your username, title, and level — may be visible to other users and to visitors of shared links. Your private Memory Map is separate and never published automatically.

Posting is subject to the Community Guidelines, which form part of these terms.

4. User-generated content

You keep ownership of the photos and text you create. By posting publicly, you grant Tokyo Mission Guide a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, resize, and display that content inside the app and in share cards or links you generate. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared by others or retained in backups for a limited period.

Only post content you created or clearly have permission to share. You are responsible for what you post.

5. Prohibited content

The following is not allowed anywhere public in the app:

  • Sexual, explicit, pornographic, or sexually suggestive content
  • Any sexual content involving minors
  • Graphic violence, gore, or self-harm content
  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or hate speech
  • Dangerous behaviour or encouragement of illegal activity
  • Spam, scams, or deceptive commercial content
  • Invasive photos of other people, including hidden-camera photos
  • Copyright or trademark infringement
  • Other people's sensitive personal information

6. Location-based features

GPS check-in reads your location once, at the moment you press it, to confirm you reached a mission destination. We do not track your location in the background. Location permission is optional and is never required to create an account, though check-in cannot work without it.

Coordinates and radii are approximate. Never rely on the app for navigation safety, and never enter unsafe, closed, private, or restricted areas to complete a check-in.

7. AI-generated information

Itineraries, mission suggestions, place recommendations, translations, roleplay replies, and pronunciation feedback are generated automatically. They may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. They are suggestions, not verified facts and not professional advice. Always confirm opening hours, prices, reservations, transport, accessibility, and venue rules with the official source before you travel.

8. Missions

Missions are optional, self-directed activities. They must never be read as instructions to trespass, enter restricted areas, break local laws, disturb residents, harass staff, perform dangerous challenges, or ignore venue rules. You decide whether a mission is safe and appropriate for you, and you complete missions at your own risk. XP, levels, and titles have no monetary value and may be adjusted or reset if they are earned through abuse.

9. Intellectual property

The Tokyo Mission Guide name, design, mission content, lesson content, and code belong to the operator. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute them without permission. Third-party names, venues, and trademarks are the property of their owners and are referenced for descriptive purposes only.

If you believe content in the app infringes your copyright, email konojunnosuke@gmail.com with enough detail to identify the work and the content in question.

10. Account suspension and termination

We may remove content, restrict posting, suspend, or terminate an account that breaks these terms or the Community Guidelines, or where required by law. Serious violations — especially anything involving minors — result in immediate removal. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Privacy & Data.

11. Service availability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". Features may change, break, or be discontinued, and data may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance or provider outages. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, including travel decisions made from AI-generated suggestions, third-party venue experiences, reservations made on external sites, or content posted by other users. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and your local consumer rights are unaffected.
